Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the best way to contact you?
- Sending me a message on Seesaw will get you the quickest response. If I am teaching, I won't be able to respond right away. If you have an emergency, please call the front office.
- What time does the school open?
- Students can enter the building at 7:00 am. They can go get breakfast as soon as they come in from the cafeteria or if they have already ate, they will sit outside the classroom quietly and read a book until the bell rings at 7:35 am.
- What time is the tardy bell?
- 7:45 am. After 7:45 am, you will need to walk your child into the front office to sign them in for the day.
- What time is dismissal?
- Dismissal begins at 2:15 pm.
- What is the latest I can pick up my child?
- Any students not picked up by 2:30 will be sent to the front office. You will need to pick them up from there.
- If I need to change my child's transportation, how do I let you know?
- If you know before the day of, inside your child's folder they will have a form you can fill out and send in their folder to school. We check folders every morning so we will take that to the front office to let them know.
- If you have to change their transportation the day of, please do TWO things. 1. Email the front office (jecollins@greenville.k12.sc.us) to let them know of the transportation change. (They MUST have this or they will not allow us to send them home a different way.) 2. Send me a message to let me know to make sure I send them home the right way. Sometimes the front office gets busy and doesn't get a chance to relay the information to us. So by doing this, it covers both areas.
- How much is lunch and breakfast?
- Lunch and breakfast are FREE this year!
- What time is lunch?
- Our lunch time is 10:25-10:55 am.
- Can I eat lunch with my child?
- Yes! We ask for the first couple of weeks that you don't visit yet as they get used to a new school and our routines. After the first two weeks, we would love to have you join your child at lunch. We recommend getting to the school 5-10 minutes earlier than our lunch to give you time to sign in at the front office. Once you're signed in, you can wait for your child outside of the cafeteria. Then if you brought your child lunch or they already have their lunch, you can take them into the cafeteria and sit at the assigned tables for families.
- If you plan to eat school lunch with your child, please get in line beside them and go through the line with our class.
- Can we have another student sit with us at lunch at the family tables?
- Unfortunately not. If their family is here eating with them, you may all choose to sit at the same table together. Their parent/guardian must be with you.
- Can I sit at the student tables with my child and their classmates?
- No. When you come for a visit, we want you to be able to enjoy that time with your child. Please sit at the reserved family tables.
- Since they eat so early, is there a snack time in the afternoon?
- Yes! We will eat in the afternoon after recess. There will be a snack sign up sent out to families to send in snacks for our students. Please find a space you would like to send in a snack!
- Should I send in a snack for my child?
- You may send in a snack for your child if you would like. Please make sure it is a healthy snack.
- Can my child bring a water bottle?
- Yes! Please make sure their name is somewhere on it in case it gets misplaced or in case another student has the same water bottle. This will help up keep items in their possession.
- Should I have my child bring a change of clothes at school?
- Yes please! We will leave this in their backpack to that you can switch it out as the weather starts to change. Please include: a shirt, pants, socks, underwear, and shoes. When spills and bathroom accidents happen, many times socks and shoes get wet and soiled. Make sure to send in an extra of both of these so that they don't have to walk around in wet socks and shoes.
